Investigation of the Structural and Mechanical Properties of ((82-X) Sn –XCu -18 In) % Alloy with X= 1,2,3,4and 5

Abstract

Materials Science is concerned with the development or synthesis of new materials . For this reason our interest is focused on the fabrication of new materials , such as lead free solder alloys . Sn-In alloys offer very low melting points and bond well with copper .This study aims to investigate The Structural and mechanical properties of (82-x)Sn -18In alloys with added copper .The Samples were prepared by melting technology From high purity (99 %) elements tin ,indium and copper .XRD showed the formation of a single phase hexagonal structure with a small copper plane, and the addition of copper decreased the particle size of the (82-x)Sn -18 In. The creep test results showed that Cu-containing solder alloys exhibited significant improvements in creep resistance. However, the average activation energy decreases with copper addition from 0.322 to 0.247 eV.

Abstract

This study investigates the morphology and optical properties of prepared α-Al₂O₃:Zn nanoparticles by sol-gel method at room temperature. TEM image revealed hexagonal structure and the average particle size in the range (9.52-15.94 nm), and showed the particles distribution and area by histograms distribution. The Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED) illustrated the polycrystalline structure. XRD analysis confirmed hexagonal structure with a high crystalline and polycrystalline structure of α-Al₂O₃:Zn nanoparticles, the average crystallite size in the range (30.529- 24.057 nm). The optical study found that the energy gab of prepared α-Al2O3:Zn (0%, 2%, 4%, 8%) were (5.145, 4.86, 4.88, 4.95 eV), respectively. Furthermore, other optical parameters such as refractive index, extinction coefficient, and dielectric constant are studied.

Abstract

The main goals of this study are to synthesize a mixed metal oxide nanocomposite (NC), CdO-CuO-Co3O4, and to analyze its structural, morphological, optical, and electrical properties using X-ray diffraction (XRD), total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and DC electrical resistivity. According to the XRD analysis, CuO nanoparticles (NPs) have a monoclinic structure, while CdO and Co3O4 (NPs) have cubic structures. The TEM images revealed a decrease in the particle size of CdO-CuO-Co3O4 (NC) compared with that of the NPs. The optical properties of CdO-CuO- Co3O4 (NC) were examined using a DRS in the wavelength range of 400-700 nm. The DC electrical resistivity results showed the semiconducting electrical behaviors of the samples.
