Using the Modern Theory in Constructing a Criterion - Referenced Test for a Calculus Course (1) According to the One-Parameter Logistic Model

  • This study aimed at using the modern theory in constructing a criterion - referenced test for a calculus course (1) according to the one-parameter logistic model. To achieve this goal, a test of (40) multiple-choice items was constructed to measure students' achievement in the course, according to the required standards. The test applied in the academic year 2020-2021 on a sample of (240) Sana’a University students were randomly chosen. The results of the statistical program (SPSS) showed in verifying the assumptions of the modern theory in the study data, while the results of the statistical program (Bilog-MG3) verified that (35) test items fit the one-parameter logistic model, and that all members of the study sample fit this model. Additionally, item difficulty of the test was found to be acceptable and consistent with the criteria given in the review of literature. The study recommended using this test, in addition to constructing other tests using modern theory models.
