Language Policy

Sana’a University Journal of Applied Sciences and Technology (SUJAST) is an international scholarly publication committed to facilitating the global exchange of scientific knowledge. To reflect this mission and the diverse community it serves, the journal operates under a clear and inclusive language policy.

  1. Accepted Languages for Submission

SUJAST accepts and publishes original research manuscripts written in two languages:

  • Arabic
  • English

This policy aims to serve both the local and regional academic community and the global scientific audience.

  1. Submission and Publication Process by Language
  • For English-language Manuscripts:
    • These constitute the primary corpus of the journal for international indexing and dissemination.
    • Authors are responsible for ensuring the manuscript meets high standards of clarity, grammar, and academic style in English prior to submission.
    • While the journal provides basic copyediting, it is highly recommended that authors whose first language is not English seek professional language editing services.
  • For Arabic-language Manuscripts:
    • The journal is dedicated to promoting high-quality scientific publishing in Arabic.
    • Manuscripts must be written in Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحى) with clear, precise academic terminology.
    • Authors are equally responsible for the linguistic and stylistic quality of their Arabic submissions.
  1. Required Bilingual Metadata

To maximize the discoverability and accessibility of all articles, regardless of the manuscript's primary language, authors must provide the following metadata in both English and Arabic:

  • Article Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
This ensures that the work is searchable and comprehensible to a worldwide audience in international databases.
  1. Peer Review and Language
  • The double-blind peer review process is conducted in the primary language of the submitted manuscript.
  • Reviewers are selected for their expertise in the subject matter and proficiency in the manuscript's language.
  1. Journal's Linguistic Support
  • The editorial team will conduct a basic check for language clarity and readability for both Arabic and English manuscripts.
  • The journal reserves the right to request language revisions from the author if the quality of writing impedes the peer review process or comprehension of the scientific content.
  • The journal may, at its discretion and as resources allow, provide minor copyediting for accepted manuscripts. However, the primary responsibility for linguistic quality rests with the authors.
  1. Author Responsibilities
  • Authors must ensure their manuscript is free of significant grammatical errors, typos, and ambiguous phrasing in the chosen language of submission.
  • For English submissions, authors are encouraged to use tools like grammar checkers or professional editing services.
  • Authors must provide accurate and complete bilingual metadata (title, abstract, keywords) as specified above.
  1. Archiving and Presentation
  • All published articles will be presented on the journal's website in their primary language of submission.
  • The bilingual metadata will be displayed alongside the article to facilitate discovery.
  • The complete archive will be searchable in both Arabic and English.
  1. Our Commitment

This policy underscores our commitment to being a bridge between scholarly communities. We encourage submissions in both languages to enrich the scientific discourse and ensure valuable research from the Arab world reaches a global audience, while also making international research accessible to Arabic-speaking scholars.
