The role of professional license exams in improving the performance and professional knowledge of primary school teachers in Mecca from their perspective

The aim of this study was to identify the role of professional license exams in improving the performance and professional knowledge of primary school teachers in Mecca from their perspective. To achieve this aim, a descriptive survey method was used, with a questionnaire as the study tool. The study population was limited to primary school teachers at the alsharayie Education Office in Mecca, and the sample size was 148 responses. Using methods of frequencies, percentages, and standard deviations, the study found that the role of professional license exams was moderate in both areas (teacher performance improvement and professional knowledge). The results also showed no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≥ 0.05) between the average responses of the study sample attributed to the variables of educational qualification and years of experience. The study made several recommendations, most notably involving practicing teachers actively in the process of developing exam items to ensure their relevance to the educational reality.
