The Impact of the information technology on institutional performance in Yemen Shipping Companies

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the impact of information technology on enhancing institutional performance in Yemeni shipping companies. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method and to collect field data, he relied on a questionnaire tool. The study population consisted of (57) Yemeni shipping companies, including (32) companies operating under the Red Sea Ports Corporation of Yemen. A comprehensive survey was conducted with a total sample size of (214) employees. The most prominent results were that the level of availability of information technology in the Yemeni shipping companies under study was high in all dimensions, it obtained an arithmetic mean of (3.92) and a percentage of (78.40%). Similarly, the institutional performance level in these companies was also high dimensions, it obtained an arithmetic mean of (3.78) and a percentage of (75.60%). Furthermore, the study demonstrated a statistically significant effect of information technology encompassing (hardware and equipment, databases, software, communication networks, human skills, and information security) on improving institutional performance in Yemeni shipping companies. The correlation coefficient between the two variables was (R = 0.737), indicating a strong and positive relationship.
