Abstract

This research aims to shed light on the reasons for the genesis of grammatical riddles among Arabs, using the analytical and historical approaches. The research was divided into an introduction that explained the reasons for the research, its importance and its approach, and three sections. The first section dealt with religious reasons, the second section dealt with social and cultural reasons, and the third section dealt with psychological reasons and the effects that riddles leave on the psyche of the questioner and the recipient. The research ended with a conclusion that dealt with the results of the research and its recommendations, the most important of which is that linguistic riddles emerged for religious, social, cultural and psychological reasons. Thus, we go beyond the narrow view of riddles that are confined to the framework of intellectual luxury and entertainment
