Effectiveness of a Proposed Program Based on Active Learning Strategies in the Development of the Trend Towards the Teaching Profession of Islamic Education Teachers At the Secondary Level in the Capital Sana'a

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed program based on active learning strategies in developing attitudes towards the teaching profession among Islamic education teachers in the secondary stage in the capital secretariat of Sana'a. The descriptive approach (construction and development method) was used to build the proposed program and its implementation guides, and the quasi-experimental approach was used to design the experimental and control groups and the pre and post-measurements. The study sample consisted of (40) female Islamic education teachers, randomly divided into two equal groups, one control and one experimental. A training program based on active learning strategies was developed and applied to the experimental group during the academic year 2023/2024. The researchers used a measure of attitude towards the teaching profession, consisting of (24) paragraphs. The results showed:


There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-application of the attitude measure, with the differences in favor of the experimental group.


There were differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post-application of the attitude measure, with the differences in favor of the post-application.


The results also showed that the program based on the active learning strategy was highly effective in developing positive attitudes towards the teaching profession among the members of the experimental group, with a corrected gain score of 1.3, which is higher than the value of 1.2 set by Black for high effectiveness.


The study recommended the need to enhance positive attitudes among Islamic education teachers at all educational levels towards teaching Islamic education effectively and enthusiastically to achieve its desired goals.
