Abstract
This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of a program based on the storytelling strategy in developing listening skills among fifth grade students in primary education in the Republic of Yemen. The experimental group consists of )47(students, while the control group consists of )48(students. To achieve the research objective, the researchers prepared a list of listening skills, a program based on the storytelling strategy that includes a teacher's guide and a student book, as well as a listening skills test. The research findings indicate significant differences at a significance level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test of listening skills in favor of the experimental group. Moreover, there are statistically significant differences at a significance level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre-test and post-test of listening skills, favoring the post-test. The research recommends the utilization of the storytelling strategy in developing Arabic language skills, the allocation of a listening curriculum for all grade levels, and the identification of specific listening skills for each grade to prioritize listening as the foundational language skill for learning other language skills.
