The most important natural characteristics of the Yemeni islands and their economic and strategic impacts

The research aims to clarify the most important natural characteristics of Yemen's islands and highlight their economic and strategic impacts. To achieve this goal, a descriptive and deductive approach was used. The main Yemeni islands, which number more than (211) island, rock, and shoal in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, are distinguished by their strategic location, biodiversity, and the diversity of their natural resources and assets. This has made them eligible for numerous service and economic investments. The strategic location of the Yemeni islands affects four maritime fronts: the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. They control the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a dense chokepoint for the global maritime artery. The strategic location of the Socotra Archipelago extends to the Strait of Hormuz, the southern coasts of the Arabian Peninsula, the southeastern coasts of Africa, and the southwestern coasts of Asia. This enables these islands to control the global shipping lane, dominate reconnaissance and surveillance operations, and rapidly control security and military naval and air forces. Consequently, they represent a powerful factor in political positions and international.
