The operational challenges of social protection systems in Yemen -are analyzing the effectiveness of mechanisms in the context of the conflict
In light of the continuation of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, social protection systems face severe operational challenges, most notably the lack of coordination between the executing bodies and institutional fragmentation and weak coverage of the poorest groups in society such as the displaced, children, the disabled and women, which calls for the development of high adaptation mechanisms, so this research aims to analyze the effectiveness of institutional performance in providing social protection for the most vulnerable groups in society, through a simple evaluation of some of some Protection programs implemented in the last ten years, the results showed weak sustainability and the remaining target groups with fragility. The study concludes that protection policies need to be formulated to adapt to the extended conflict.
