Jurisprudential Foundations of Contemporary Issues in Water Technologies and Modern Methods of Purification and Sterilization: An Applied Study
This study examines Islamic jurisprudential rulings on contemporary water technologies and modern sterilization methods.
It investigates atmospheric water generated through condensation (AWG), distilled, deionized, and ionized water, as well as sterilization techniques using ozone, ultraviolet radiation, gases, cold plasma, and chemical disinfectants.
The study adopts inductive, analytical, and applied approaches by examining classical juristic texts and applying established legal principles to contemporary technologies.
The findings indicate that atmospheric, distilled, deionized, and ionized water remain "Mutlaq" (absolute) and purifying water as long as they retain their essential characteristics. Modern sterilization methods and chemical disinfectants may also serve as valid means of impurity removal when they effectively eliminate impurities and their traces in accordance with juristic principles. The study demonstrates the flexibility of Islamic jurisprudence in addressing scientific and technological developments while preserving the objectives of Islamic law.
