Text Type-Based Assessment of Arabic Translation of the Novel The Catcher in the Rye
This study aims to assess the quality of the Arabic translation of the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger in light of Reiss's (2000) model of text typology, focusing on any mismatches between the original text and its Arabic version at the semantic, grammatical, stylistic, and lexical levels. To this end, the study adopts a qualitative analytical approach. Results revealed mismatches between the ST and the TT that appear to have distorted the intended messages of the ST. Ultimately, the quality statement indicates that the TT differs significantly from the original ST.
