INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Complete guide to manuscript preparation and submission

Sana’a University Journal for Applied Sciences and Technology (SUJAST) publishes original research articles, review papers, and applied scientific studies in the fields of applied sciences, engineering, and technological innovation. Submissions must contribute significant scientific value, methodological rigor, and relevance to the international research community.

Originality

  • The manuscript must be original.
  • It must not have been previously published.
  • It must not be under review elsewhere.
  • Authors must submit a signed Originality and Exclusivity Statement.
  • All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review.

Manuscript Preparation – General

  • Paper Size: A4
  • Margins: 2.5 cm (all sides)
  • Layout: Single column
  • Line Spacing: Single
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Maximum Length: 15 printed pages (journal format)
  • Tables ≤ 5, Figures + Images ≤ 10 total. Exceeding limits → manuscript not considered.

English Manuscripts

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Body text: 12 pt
  • Main title: 16 pt, Bold
  • Section headings: 14 pt, Bold

Arabic Manuscripts

  • Font: Simplified Arabic
  • Body text: 14 pt
  • Main title: 16 pt, Bold
  • Section headings: 14 pt, Bold
Manuscripts must be arranged in the following order:

1. Title

  • Full title of the paper

2. Author(s)

  • Full name(s)

3. Affiliation(s)

  • Department, Institution, City, Country

4. Corresponding author email

  • Valid email address

5. Abstract

  • 150‑250 words, structured

6. Keywords

  • 3‑6 words, comma separated

7. Introduction

  • Background, problem, gap, objectives

8. Materials and Methods

  • Detailed methodology

9. Results

  • Clear presentation

10. Discussion

  • Interpretation, comparison

11. Conclusions & Recommendations

  • Main findings, future work

12. Acknowledgments (if applicable)

  • Funding, technical help

13. Ethical approval Statement

  • Include approval details

14. Conflict of Interest Statement

  • Disclose any interests

15. Funding Information

  • List all funding sources

16. Data Availability Statement

  • Where data can be accessed

17. Informed Consent & 18. References

  • Informed Consent: Statement confirming consent (if applicable).
  • References: Listed in numerical order (IEEE style).

Abstract

Length: 150–250 words. Must be structured and clearly state:

  • Background / Objective
  • Methodology
  • Key Results
  • Conclusions

The abstract must be self-contained and not include references or undefined abbreviations.

Keywords

3–6 keywords, separated by commas. Avoid repetition of words already in the title.

Example: renewable energy, finite element analysis, machine learning, Yemen
  • Define the research problem clearly.
  • Present relevant literature context.
  • Identify research gaps.
  • State research objectives explicitly.
  • Indicate: Location of the research & Period of implementation.

This section must provide sufficient detail to allow reproducibility, including:

  • Experimental design
  • Materials and instruments
  • Data collection procedures
  • Statistical analysis methods
  • Ethical approval (if applicable)

Results

  • Presented clearly and logically.
  • Avoid duplication of data in both tables and figures.

Discussion

  • Interpret findings critically.
  • Compare findings with recent peer-reviewed literature.
  • Numbered consecutively (1), (2), (3), etc.
  • Table titles appear above the table.
  • Figure captions appear below the figure.
  • Images must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
  • Accepted formats (if not using LaTeX): EPS or PNG.
  • Each file must be named sequentially (Figure1.png, Figure2.png, …).
  • All figures must be compressed into one ZIP or RAR file. Failure to comply may delay processing.
  • Centered.
  • Numbered consecutively.
  • Equation numbers aligned to the right.
  • Example:
    E = mc² .................................. (1)
  • References must be listed in numerical order according to citation sequence.
  • In-text citations must appear in square brackets, e.g., [16].
  • Only credible, peer-reviewed, internationally indexed sources are accepted.
  • Predatory or non-indexed journals are strictly prohibited. Inclusion of such references is grounds for immediate rejection.
  • Authors are fully responsible for ensuring reference credibility.
Journal Article Example:
[16] F. Thabit, A. AlKelly, and M. Shukri, “Propagation of fully and partially coherent flat-topped multi-Gaussian beams through axicons,” JOSA A, vol. 37, pp. 759–767, 2020.
Book Example:
SURNAME, Initials., Book Title, Edition. Publisher, Country, Year, pp. xx–xx.

Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
  • At least two independent reviewers evaluate each submission.
  • The Editorial Board makes the final decision.
  • Possible decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject.

Publication Ethics

SUJAST adheres to international publication ethics principles, including:

  • Prevention of plagiarism
  • Avoidance of data fabrication and falsification
  • Proper citation practices
  • Transparency in authorship contribution

Authorship Criteria

Authorship must be based on:

  • Significant contribution to research design, data analysis, or manuscript preparation.
  • Approval of the final version.
  • Agreement to be accountable for the work.

Guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is not permitted.

Conflict of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research.

Funding Disclosure

  • All sources of funding must be declared clearly in a dedicated section.

Data Availability

  • Authors are encouraged to provide data availability statements and share datasets where applicable to promote transparency and reproducibility.

Reference Quality Control

  • References must originate from reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Predatory or non-indexed journals → immediate rejection.
  • Authors are fully responsible for reference credibility.

Editorial Responsibility

  • The journal reserves the right to:
  • Reject manuscripts that fail to meet scientific, ethical, or formatting standards.
  • Request revisions at any stage of review.
  • Perform plagiarism checks before and after acceptance.
