Sana’a University Journal of Applied Sciences and Technology (SUJAST) is committed to the principles of open access as defined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). We believe that removing barriers to the dissemination of research fosters greater innovation, collaboration, and societal impact. Our policy is designed to ensure immediate, permanent, and free access to scholarly work for all readers worldwide.
- Definition of Open Access at SUJAST
At SUJAST, open access means that all peer-reviewed accepted manuscripts are:
- Freely available online to any user immediately upon publication.
- Accessible without financial, legal, or technical barriers beyond those inherent in internet access.
- Not subject to any embargo period.
- Require no registration to read, download, copy, or distribute.
- License and Copyright
- Author Retains Copyright: Authors publishing in SUJAST retain the copyright of their work.
- Licensing: All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits anyone to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are clearly indicated.
- Reader Rights
Under the CC BY license, any user may:
- Read, download, and print full-text articles.
- Share articles with colleagues and students.
- Use text and data for text-mining and analysis.
- Reuse and remix content for new works, with proper attribution.
- Author Rights and Responsibilities
Authors grant SUJAST the non-exclusive right to publish and distribute their work. Authors are free to:
- Deposit the published PDF (Version of Record) in institutional or subject repositories (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu) immediately upon publication.
- Use their work in teaching, conferences, and future publications.
- Enter into separate contractual arrangements for non-exclusive distribution (e.g., book chapters).
Authors are responsible for ensuring the work is original, does not infringe on any copyright, and has received all necessary permissions for third-party material.
- Archiving and Preservation
To ensure permanent access, SUJAST:
- Deposits all published content in digital archives and repositories.
- Encourages authors to self-archive their work.
- Works with preservation systems like LOCKSS/CLOCKSS to guarantee long-term digital preservation.
- Compliance with Funders and Institutions
Our open access policy complies with the mandates of major research funders (e.g., cOAlition S/Plan S, NIH, Wellcome Trust) that require immediate open access to funded research.
- Metadata and Discoverability
The bibliographic metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords) of all articles are freely accessible and harvestable by indexing services under a CC0 Public Domain Dedication, maximizing the discoverability and impact of published research.
